We found a great new hot spot in Kuala Lumpur. The best part about this place is it serves Italian food all day long. For anyone who is a big lover of Italian cuisine in Malaysia, it is agreed that it can be a challenge to find a restaurant that is great but also offers a good setting to relax and have fun while enjoying authentic Italian meals. At Sassorosso Italian restaurant, this is possible.
We found this restaurant a few blocks from our office. It is in Lorong Yap Kwan Seng and it looks really pretty as you walk up to it. You can almost smell the pizza as it is baking. When we paid our visit after work we were delighted to find that it doubles as a sports bar. It looks like a romantic restaurant with elegant table settings and dim lighting. But inside there is an actual sports bar where people like us, tourists and ex-patriots hang out to watch TV and enjoy drinks.

The website does not lie when it says it offers authentic Italian food. This is real Italian food that will please your taste buds. All real lovers of this cuisine know what authentic cuisine should taste like. This restaurant did not fail in this area.
We love the pizza and there are many different types of cheeses to choose from along with that mouth watering thin crust. If you pass by Sassorosso at lunch time be sure to try one à la carte meals. Make sure to try the seafood.
The Service
Expect truly high-end service when you visit this restaurant. Before you arrive be sure to look online to know the dress code. Sassorosso does have a dress code and it is out of consideration for all the diners. You’ll notice that the service crew looks elegant. Each service member also knows the menu very well.
You know from the way they tell you about the specials for the day that they are professionally trained to know exactly what goes into every meal. This adds to the authentic Italian feel at Sassorosso. We even got to meet the chef on one of our visits he was warm and congenial.
As for being a sports bar, it differs from many of the sports bars in Malaysia because it also has an Italian restaurant as part of it. This is what makes this place so refreshing. We took the time to enjoy hanging out at the sports bar. It’s very chill.
It’s perfect for enjoying drinks and watching TV after a long day at work. It isn’t as dark or as loud as a normal sports bar, but you get great drinks, HDTV, and updates on all your favorite sports.

Fit it into a KL weekend, not a crawl
One relaxed dinner is enough. Use it on the night you do not want another mall food court or a street-food queue. If this is your first time in the city, keep the rest of the weekend small and follow the practical first weekend in Kuala Lumpur : one neighbourhood, one daytime outing, and an early Sunday if you are travelling on. Check the restaurant’s own hours before you cross town. A sports-bar kitchen can close earlier than the screens.
Call ahead if you care about a quiet table versus a match on television. The room changes character on big game nights, and that is either the point or the reason to pick another evening.
